You know I genuinely have no idea what to believe on the whole Woody Allen issue. I believe both sides? I don't believe either side? I don't know. It just seems like a huge mess.

I think this article applies. So annoying to see the same journalistic tropes trotted out with regards to this movie. Haven't read a review that addressed the actual film yet and it's been out for weeks.
Anatomy Of A Blue Is The Warmest Color Review
I hope you cover when the other YSL movie comes out. Way better director, way better cast, plus it's unauthorized so it'll hopefully be even more scandalous!
Hear hear! I'm with you. The movie is incredible. Two of the best performances in the history of cinema, and I don't think that's an exaggeration. Deserves to be seen by everyone.
It gets released in the US on October 25th in New York and LA. Looks like it's getting an Oscar push too, so it might expand to adventurous theaters in smaller cities. Could not recommend the movie highly enough. It's a masterpiece.
Oh that's interesting. I think the controversy will propel the movie to as large a viewership as any explicit three hour queer coming of age story could hope for. I'm more annoyed that everyone and their mother is going to be talking about and around the controversy of this movie, both with the reductive lesbian…
B. Ruby Rich is a lesbian, and as far as I know she is the only prominent lesbian critic to see the film, that's why I recommended the video. Most of the criticism of the film is coming from lesbians who have not seen the film yet.
Sigh. I don't think you're really listening to what I'm saying, you're being pretty rude and reductive regarding what it means to be a queer woman, and you definitely haven't seen the movie. But you know what, I'll just refer you to B. Ruby Rich, arguably the most prominent film critic in queer cinema.
Lol. I'm a queer woman. I'm not saying that there are no lesbian films produced for the sole purpose of satisfying the male gaze. What I am saying is that this film is not one of them. It's the story of an extraordinary affair, it makes sense for these characters to have sex that is beyond the norm. The characters…
Yeah this is where I'm at with the reaction to the movie, which is a total shame because it is so interesting as a piece of cinema and as a piece of this moment of our culture.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm saying that the situation is complex and that the film industry has bred an environment where this kind of behavior on sets are acceptable, and so if you are going to boycott films where there were on set abuses of power, you're gonna have to deal with the fact that this is not an…
Meh, I hate the idea that lesbians have a right or wrong way of doing sex. Sorry Julie Maroh, but not everyone does it the way you do it. The film is about skin and sensation and taste and texture and feelings. It would undermine the whole point of the movie to remove the sex. Plus the movie is 3 hours long: the sex…
I love her. It's like watching season 1 Lyla Garrity sing Mariah Carey songs.
Omg what a relief, I was totally confusing Kyss Mig with Show Me Love. Idk why! They're both Swedish?
Bound. I don't know if Black Swan counts as a lesbian flick, but I thought the chemistry between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis was pretty fun. Probably the best anyone's gotten out of Queen Amidala in her whole career really.
To be fair, this is something the movie is interested in too. Like the blue haired girl is an artist and part of the reason their romance is so turbulent is because the lead just wants to be a teacher. Their conflict is the question of the working class professional vs. the artistic bohemian.
Agreed to the point where I was wondering if they did that on purpose so we'd be more invested in Alex and Piper.
Have you actually seen the show? These all sound like very valid criticisms of an entirely different program.
May I just say Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is a studly little seven year old. Fuck the gender binary, she can dress however she wants to dress and you know what, the way she dresses makes her look mad cool. I hope my future children look half as baller as Shiloh looks when they are growing up.
