OMG we had this fight in my fam recently. My mom got remarried five years ago, right? And he is more of a...conservative asshole than i would like, but whatever. So she hyphenated her name to placate him(she had wanted to keep her maiden name, as she had during thirty years lf marriage to my dad, but this literally

My mother (visually i have always been her CLONE, making this story allthemore strange to me) almost got arrested at the Canadian border while taking my brother and I (with her friend and her friends son) on a trip the summer after my eighth grade year, all because she kept her maiden name. This somehow did not

But not stew or thick chowder!

...mom? Is that you?

We call them bowlie-plates. Right there with ya.

John Legend, I had the same damn response.

I think so! We are anomolous, was the conclusion.

I hope they are actually being supportive behind the scenes by not making him be part of the kardashian machine and thats why he isnt presemt, a d not because they have actually abandoned him,

YES! And a bike lane means as a driver one has more peace of mind.

Oh yeah. There are places where its ok (to ppl who ‘get’ the context of a cyclist) because safety necessitates taking charge of the lane, but there are usually work-arounds. The infrastructure pits us against eachother and it doesnt have to /shouldnt be that way.

Oh me too. I cringe seeing cyckists do some of the mess they do, i wish it were a perfect world where we all had our place. My keast fave is rock creek parkway in dc on the weekends.

And people are realizing its limiting to be somewhere you have to drive. The ability to drive in some sOme circumstnces is very freeing, and in others limiting. I miss dc because i could walk. In nc, the cukture is still very much geared towrds “only the poors and/or disenfranchised walk/bus/bike”, i miss seeing

Here, too. Or biking.

Jesus, double parking. I... Cannot imagine actually doing that (when i could afford a car that is). i would feel like such a jerkwagon.

And noncyclists tend to not know the actual laws for cyclists

Some places dont have bike lanes. Like, at all.

If there is no bike lane or safe/wide enough shoulder, cyclists are supposed to ride the middle of the lane to force drivers to pass as if they are also in a car. This is to ensure the cyclists safety, as often cars will try to pass cyclists on tight shoulders without leaving enough room/force cyclists off the road

Sorry for bad typing. I am not so hot at touchscreens...

Also, i have had an interaction with cops that confirms your suspicion. He said essentially “darn tootin, i wouldnt ride the roads here either!”.

Me too, we dont have bike lanes in my area of raleigh and youd have tomhave a death wish tombike the road outside of downtown. Maybe fifteen years ago,,not these days. people stop their cars to scream at me to “get back on the damn sidewalk” or “get off the road” or “get a car!”, tailgate, or pass me illegally and /or
