Nightgaunt00 suggested below that it could be ego keeping them from realizing that they are not in the Good Place. I think the opposite could be true. No one has lived a perfect life, so we would all probably doubt our worth to be in the Good Place. Under the circumstances, it would make it harder to judge others who

Just bought my tickets on the Cinemark website

The conspiracy theorist in me says that Trump wants to be impeached. He is looking at the polls and knows that he faces long odds to be re-elected. His fragile ego will not allow him to admit defeat. He is also worried about being indicted and jailed after he leaves office.

Neutral: What has to happen for things to get better? The answer, unfortunately, is government law and regulation. Corporations absolutely should be interested in providing the best shareholder value (a combination of share price increases and dividends). Make no mistake, if any corporation takes their eye off that

I realize that the majority of people on this blog are left-leaning, but should the democrats somehow manage to take back control of the redistricting, we should not want the party to swing the gerrymandering pendulum too far back in the other direction. While it would be tempting to gerrymander the districts to

You are correct, theoretically. The reality though is that no municipality is going to install a relatively expensive machine or system to do such monitoring for free. They are going to initiate parking fees to pay for the system, and those fees will never go away. Generally, I don’t have a problem with this; parking

My larger point is that it’s great that there are spaces that are available for free for a limited period of time. I’ll bet a lot of those spots now become metered spots.

This seems like a good idea but I worry about unintended consequences. The issue is locations where there is time-limited parking but no meters. I think we may see a lot more parking meters installed when parking inevitably becomes a shit show with people parking and never moving their cars.

I have a significant color deficiency that prevents me from being able to pursue many professions (e.g., professional pilot and highway patrol).  I can become a private pilot (a lifelong dream) but will be limited to daytime flying. Would this count as a “sensory impairment that substantially limits one or more major

The biggest problem with the progressives push for “Medicare for all” is that the message is too vague about too many things.

Morgan Three-Wheeler.

It seems like the better metric here would be something like worst sales as a percentage of the number the manufacturer produced. Cars like the Audi TT aren’t intended to sell in numbers comparable to a Camry or an F-150.

I was listening to CNN this morning (on XM radio) and they were talking about how to sway Trump voters.  The main point was that you cannot talk condescendingly to Trump voters if you hope to change their mind.  The news hosts seemed to interpret “condescending” in this case to mean “don’t make them feel like idiots

I couldn’t immediately figure out what Randall’s internalization was in this episode. The best I can figure is that he developed an internalized understanding of the problems and feelings of the neighborhood in which he is running for office. Clearly, his internalized understanding doesn’t match with reality. It seems

I disagree with the lack of an overarching theme. There certainly was one - that which we choose to internalize and the effects on our loved ones.

I’ve got a few:

This seems like a total non-story from what I see on the video. You cannot tell a lot about absolute speed from the lane divider broken lines, but it doesn’t look like they’re going all that fast in the first place. It is also apparent that the car from which the video is filmed didn’t accelerate with the Lamborghini

When my one son was in that “can poop on the toilet but can’t wipe his butt” phase, he once woke up in the middle of the night and had to poop. Rather than waking my wife or I up ahead of time, he just went into his bathroom down the hall from our room and proceeded to unload. At some point in my slumber, I became

Exactly right. Carrying isn’t for everyone and there are certainly irresponsible people carrying. Most people, however, recognize the very serious consequences that using a gun will cause and will go to great lengths to de-escalate situations.

Wrong on the steps. The steps are pull the gun out of the holster, aim (by raising arm), and pull the trigger. Most people carrying a gun carry with a round in the chamber. Some of the guns don’t have a safety at all (don’t worry, the gun will not go off unless you pull the trigger, which is protected by the holster).
