I knew this was about John Canzano just from the headline, ugh.

Another Grape Ape fan! Locals tend to talk down Voodoo, but as a born and raised Portlander, that grape doughnut is my all time favorite. But those ones with the Fruit Loops on top are disgusting.
I was just talking to someone whose two daughters sometimes skated with Tonya at Valley in Beaverton, and her assessment is the same as yours.
She still lives here! So does Jeff Gillooly, who changed his name. Deadspin ran a story about him a few years ago, which was a great read:
Maybe respond to people who try to justify the treatment of Japanese Americans by saying that each person who was incarcerated during WWII who was still living at the time of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988 received $20,000 from the U.S. government as compensation. Not only was it morally reprehensible, it was damned…
I think you mean “Melllvar” with three l’s.
Ew.
Good god, that “Buddha” twitterer is like the exact opposite of the actual historical Buddha: “Flooring salesman by day, treasure hunter by night. Second amendment supporter and owner of many fine firearms. Former successful entrepreneur.”
I don’t think anyone has mentioned Where’s Marlowe yet, but that was a good one that Miguel Ferrer starred in (from holy shit twenty years ago) with Mos Def and John Slattery.
I had to rewind and watch that part again to make sure I heard him correctly!
Japanese Americans who were still living in 1988-90 each received $20,000 redress from the government because of the obvious wrongness of what happened to them. So, in addition to being just generally terrible, this may cost us a chunk of change several decades in the future, when people are compensated for violations…
I work for a small nonprofit, and monthly donations (even small amounts) are so important for having a regular, ongoing source of income. Good for you!
The Bundys walked in Oregon because the U.S. Attorney here sucks. The local Congressman (Earl Blumenaur) has called him out multiple times now:
They’re nearing the end of their federal trial right now. Oregon Public Broadcasting has been reporting. My aunt nearly got on that jury, which is mostly why I am aware of the trial starting!
