Back seat passengers cant open the rear doors without the front door being opened first, also, the rear handle is difficult (but not impossible) to reach from the back. My 6/8 year olds let me know on a regular basis, especially if I forget to let them out. Its not a huge deal, but it happens.

As you mentioned,

As an owner of a car with suicide doors (BMW i3) its kind of a pain to have backseat passengers that cant get in/out on their own. If there was a B pillar, couldn’t you still have suicide doors that work independently? The seat belt to the front seats are housed in the back doors, so if you want to let the backseat

The is the correct balance of body creases vs clean lines. Well done, looks good!

It was low production

The i8 sold plenty

Fuckin’ rich people..

My cars always have some complicated attachment point that you have to construct with directions blowing around on your hood. I’m somewhat mechanically inclined: I change my own brakes/oil/tie rods, etc.. But changing my wipers always summons cursing and box throwing.

I get your point, and agree you’re on to something I hadn’t considered. However... If you drive any EV, then a Tesla, you’ll notice that Tesla is about a decade ahead in terms of overall tech, if you can get over the falcon doors and no physical buttons.

Seriously, no one’s even trying, entertaining as it may be.

This looks like something that was designed by committee.

That’s whimsical

Looks are subjective, but the design is pretty restrained as well as reminiscent of just about everything else in its class, which isn’t a knock. I also see brand hatred in general so I’ll disregard your opinion altogether.

Your take is bad and you should feel bad.

Not to mention it was a completely drama free ownership. I’ve purchased brand new 3 Hyundais: 2.0l 4cyl Tiburon, 2.0l 4cyl Tucson, 3.8l v6 Veracruz. I put 160k+ on each. No issues outside of regular maintenance. My clutch on both Tiburon/Tucson lasted over 150k miles.

Much like supercars, I rarely lust for things I cannot have. The forbidden fruit game is one you never win.

I dont think Hyundai/Kia are trying to be Mercedes/BMW, but are playing the value card. For the money, its damn nice. I owned a Veracruz and the entry level lux features beat anything within $15k, from what I test drove.

“though used luxury VWs have their own issues”...

My Mini Cooper S (BMW) was perfect, even slowing/stopping at red lights and speeding up above 55mph. They were incredibly accurate, even though you have to turn them on every time you got in the car.

Most modern (non sports cars) in the last 10 years have offered a manual, but only in bare bones trim levels. As such, the joy of shifting is less than the agony of shitty options.

I almost bought a 6-speed Subaru Forester, but the manual was only available on the mid-trim and not at all on the turbo’d XT (WRX version

I want to meet the man (woman) who says CP. It may not be my favorite color, but at least its not “asshole yellow”. Solid NP here.
