It’s a good show. My one complaint about it is the lack of boy characters, not because “Oh no I can’t identify with girls” but because I wish boys got to see similarly nuanced portrayals of themselves on TV.

Exactly. So many of the problems we face are a result of (often very legitimate) distrust in the institutions. If people trusted that money spent on school lunches would actually end up on kids' plates and not in some crony's pocket, I'm sure this would have already been solved.

The recurring flaw in the Star Wars universe is the gatekeepers continue trying to double-down on things and ideas that have already succeeded instead of attempting to break new ground. Even when they stumble into something new and good like “The Mandalorian,” their next move with “The Book of Boba Fett” is conceived…

This is literally the plot of all 60 seasons of Law & Order SVU or whatever. 

A lifetime of watching Law and Order has taught me wrongdoers always break down on the stand and tell the whole truth.

Aw man. I remember Jalopnik’s original story (2021? Jeez the year really was longer than I realized). Tragic that he didn’t make it to the transplant, but I’m happy that he had optimism and a new (honestly really fucking weird) place to belong in the final months of his life. RIP, Gary. And, uh, Gobbless, I guess.

It is not an oversight. The show is being internationally broadcast across many different channels and platforms. I trust the global readership of The A.V. Club are able to google their own broadcasting information.

that scene was so hard to watch... i never looked up coat hanger abortions. i just assumed one of the shoulders was used but they used a very sharp torn rod piece from a hanger which was way worse than what i had assumed. i was internally screaming.
