As a few other people have mentioned it here, MGM doesn’t own its Golden Age library (WarnerMedia does). And they’re not even a studio in the common acception, at least not since the release of the first Hot Tub Time Machine in 2010.

Yes, what makes Sci fi work is internal logic. These comments are nitpicking some stuff, and pretending like the original movies didn’t gloss over stuff that was later explained in supplental materials, but they have a point.
