You're kidding, right? Utopia 2x01 is one of the best episodes of television ever made. The season may not have ended as strongly as the first, but it was intended as a middle chapter, not the last (as it was unfortunately cancelled)

True Detective is not television, in fact when Season 1 came out it was flagged as a turning point in the medium. It was remarkable that it was an enclosed story by a single movie director and a novelist writer. It was a revolutionary moment.
