This disturbing new trend of journalistic integrity is being spearheaded by Marah Eakin… #backhandedcompliment
ehh, i don't think it's the worst reason (as Max Bemis has just demonstrated), just illogical reasoning. the only reason why i hate Britney Spears' music is because I grew up hating school and kids at school played it, so i hated it. is that really the worst crime against music i could commit?
Because successful people interviewed by successful websites are usually dudebros. Of course songs about women's feelings will be shit on. Shit on something like Blurred Lines, however, and prepare for accusations of 'feminazi' or worse depending on your gender.
Finally, a legit criticism!
It would be fine if they were being funny about it, but it's not. It has the entertainment value of a car crash.
Agreed, I actually got into the Pixies not through Nirvana, but through an interview I saw with Kim Deal (I believe the context was a feature on bass players, can't quite remember).
I disagree about the voice, Frank Black has a really dynamic voice, no one could argue that his vocal style wasn't unique and effective.…
The Hipster Games, you mean ;)
I just like listening to the Pixies, hipsterism has nothing to do with it. I'd rather hang out with Nirvana, though, they seem like cooler people.
I'd rather have Marah interviewed about a song she hates, to be honest.
She says like 5 words, how is that forceful?
I think she just has a bit of journalistic integrity that says "actually, let's just get the facts straight before you continue to rant"
My opinion on why this feature is not that great: Nobody is on the same page, not even the interviewees. There's a lot of pretense at having fun with it, but in the same sentence taking it seriously, possibly too seriously sometimes. This is not just a problem in the comments.
I suggest an alternative: Someone presents…
Agreed, I have a lot of respect for Nirvana as artists and people, but I'm just not into their music the way I'm into bands like Pixies and Bikini Kill. It's all personal preference.
I'll give him this: he's brave, albeit in the way a toddler is brave when it walks out into traffic.
Oh my god, I had to stop reading after the first correction.
Dude has no idea what he's talking about. If you're gonna go after a song like "Rape Me", you better know what you're talking about. People have written theses on this and he's not even passing pre-school.
Remember that in Matt Smith's 4th episode, countless soldiers sacrifice themselves for him. The only difference is that this time he's dispensing with the formalities.
I think we've had enough of the companion leaving for a guy. It'd be nice if Clara left and Danny stayed on, I like him already. After Mickey and Rory, as great as they were, I don't want another "companion's companion"
The climax of the plot is the Shakri, however the plot is so secondary to the characters' story that the real climax comes with the end speech. Yeah, it was corny, but much like the Lodger, it's great to get a story that just completely throws away the plot for the sake of the characters. And Lord knows characters…
Exactly, there was even the corny (but wonderful) speech at the end repeating the title, just if you didn't get the first time that the Three were the leads.
