Very good point - if we had just been dumped into the Big Mission formula, the book would have felt considerably trite.

This was a wonderfully refreshing read for me - one of the things about a lot of the sci-fi that's out there; it's written with a decidedly European/American cultural preference. The fact that the society was based around Islam left me with no handholds, so I found myself just accepting the more unusual world building…

I picked it up back when it was first featured and am really enjoying it. The hit box is annoyingly small on the iPhone, though - I prefer playing it on the iPad (and since it's a + app, why wouldn't you?).

Well that's a shame - there's a certain nuance to Ig (in the better-written chapters of Horns) that The Beef just won't be able to pull off. However, early on, when he's still in "willfully ignorant" mode, there's no better actor to portray *that*!
