While this initiative is awesome and great, it's a fucking disgrace that an outside non-profit has to raise the funds to get these kits tested. That in itself diminishes the nature of these crimes - that they aren't important enough to make it into the county budget.

God damn it, this is what taxes are supposed to be for. It should not require fund raisers for the police to investigate a crime.

Well, ideally states and cities wouldn't have to rely on the benevolence of taxed citizens to do their fucking jobs, you know? Do they have public campaigns to build new roads or fix potholes? Justice for rape victims should be a priority as well.
