    My knee is firmly in place - I have made no claim to having an opinion on the writer or the AV Club, so you are not only putting words in my mouth based on some projection of yours, but you are either not reading my comments or misreading them.

    I appreciate the explainer. I don’t pay much attention to the bylines here, but I have my own bylines at different websites that I reflexively dismiss.

    That seemed pretty clear to me, but I was commenting on the off chance that someone might actually engage in good faith to explain an actual problem they had with the writing.

    I think his visual sense would be a good match, but point taken.

    All I did was read the review, and the review laid out its thesis in a way that was understandable. It seemed to clearly compare the characterizations between the original and this, and explain where this adaptation falls short. I came into the review curious, and left convinced that I didn’t NEED to watch this show,

    I wonder if, say, a Luc Besson could do a good Trigun?

    But what’s bad and dumb about the review, aside from it coming from someone that is BAD and DUMB? Is it the quality of the writing (unexplained claims, important missing context, wild question-begging assertions, etc.) or is it the subjectivity of the writing you have a qualm with?
