The point is that the improvements from 2008 until now (negligible) don’t align with the price hike.

So... What you’re saying is, don’t worry about the jacked price, don’t question the industry and pay the price?

My son has a peanut allergy and has to keep an epi-pen with him at all times. These are really expensive life preservers. The devices, most of the time, expire before they are ever needed, but you never want to be caught with out one. I am lucky and my insurance covers most of the cost, but that just means my HMO

Considering they’ve been raising their prices since 2008 and obamacare was signed in 2010 and wasn’t completed until 2015......

We have many of the breakthrough drugs we have because of the free market system. The cure for Hep C is out now. Not treatment, cure. This would’ve never happened if the companies that spend billions researching this couldn’t make money off of it.

Mylan said its prices have “changed over time to better reflect important product features and the value the product provides,” and that “we’ve made a significant investment to support the device over the past years.”

This is a perfect example of what is wrong with the medical industry in the U.S. This is one reason of many why Obamacare is problematic and why a single payer system along with heavy regulation is needed.

This is definitely his idea of a hilarious joke. The EpiPen is a free market capitalists’ wet dream.

Per the commentators, it is in reference to the fact that in the next summer olympics there will only be 4 gymnasts allowed for the team competition. So it is the last 5 person team.

DC area news radio (WTOP) plays a spoiler warning before announcing Olympics scores when they do sports. They know a lot of people plan to watch and respect that.

I’m serious! I mean, yeah, I’m on the internet and that’s the risk but I was trying to avoid spoilers if I could and I thought at least the results would be omitted in the headline so I would know not to click.

It’s not. A lot of people can’t watch the livestream during work hours so we depend on the NBC broadcast.

It’s not, but truly, it’s more NBC’s fault than yours. We can’t expect the whole internet to wait until NBC chooses to show it to us.

I’ve finally hit the point where I don’t even care about watching the events, since we all get spoiled immediately on the internet. Sucks all the entertainment right out of it.

Wow, thanks for the spoiler warning, Jez.

I thought Final Five was in reference to the fact that they’re Martha Karolyi’s last team before her retirement as national team coordinator? Could be wrong; reference tumblr gymternet.

I am right there with you. Based on her twitter feed she seems in good spirits and is trying to leave the hospital today.

I seriously started to cry a bit because I was terrified she was dead or paralyzed. I’m still very worried about her recovery. I, too, have never seen a cyclist fall like that on her neck and then lie crumpled and unmoving. I hope she’s ok.

Now playing

crashes happen pretty frequently. Landing head first in a concrete gutter not quite as often.

I thought he was dead, but he was sitting up after the crash. Van Vleuten isn’t going to be sitting up for a long time. Worst crash ever. The way she hit the curb with her back it was obvious there was going to be spine damage.
