It’s really not a competition. Between the anti-semitic dog whistles, the voter suppression particularly of black people, the reluctance to address mass shootings in schools, the detentions and child-snatching at the border, the hostility to civil rights generally, and of trans people in particular, the disdain for

Don’t snicker too hard just yet. The (R) WI legislature is trying to take a trick out of North Carolina’s book and limit the incoming (D) governor’s power before he even has a chance to take office.

As a fellow Floridian, I have the opposite response. I have been devastated for days to think Florida is this racist and self destructive. Even a momentary reprieve  from that despair is welcome.

I’m sorry that Florida attracts so much shit talking. My own state is worse, in the opinion of many (including myself). People tend to forget that there are MANY of us who are doing our best to restore or establish fairness.

No I saw it he karate chopped her arm and broke all of her arms and now she’s in critical condition thoughts and prayers

As a fellow Floridian I’ve become pretty zen about this. Florida always screws up. This is par for the course. Everything is ridiculous lol.

The thing that these narratives get wrong is that, for most rational, even liberal leaning people, trans identity does not automatically imbue someone with the capability to govern and lead.

There’s plenty of statistical analyses that show that liberals aren’t the ones who choose their elected officials based on “superficial standards” like gender or race.

When I was in college, I went to a rodeo with a bunch of friends. We all were drinking a lot beforehand and then took a bus downtown to the rodeo. We were so rowdy, constantly yelling “RODEO!!!!”, the bus driver pulled over and a cop got on and made everyone wearing a cowboy hat get off the bus.

This person is an asshole. First of all, a reservation fell through? There are 100 million restaurants in this city just walk LITERALLY NEXT DOOR. Second of all, our transit system is garbage as is and while there doesn’t seem to be many people on the train in the blurry shot posted here, any kind of disruption to my

Nobody -- not Hallquist, not anyone -- ever remotely suggested that being trans was itself a reason to vote for her.

I voted for her, and was really hoping she’d win for many reasons. I liked her platform, but knew her beating Phil “Veto-Machine” Scott would be an uphill battle.

That’s a good point. It’s still such a part of toxic masculinity that even the whiff of homosexuality about you is reasonable cause for (literally) murderous rage-it’s no surprise that trans women add even more fuel to that fire.

I live in Vermont, and definitely not in Progressive Vermont (which, honestly, not sure how much it exists outside Burlington).

I think too, many men are fearful of being “tricked” by a trans woman and that by ever having bring attracted to one, makes them gay or some dumb shit like that. So trans women are dealt with with an even more critical, dangerous “male gaze”. So when a trans woman is seen as passable or does not display any “male

It’s interesting how much of a disparity there is between the cultural fixation on trans women and the cultural indifference to trans men. I suspect that a big part of it is that trans women are doing something perceived as much more transgressive, i.e. rejecting male privilege and (in many cases) masculinity-both of

I don’t even know what to do with the moderate Democrats debate anymore. I’m in Tennessee and even though he got crushed, Bredesen did pick up a lot of republicans while a lot of my leftist friends were pissed about his Kavanaugh announcement. However even the ones who were pissed still voted for him and I think in

We need a (longshot) ban on voters if they moved to Florida over 60. Snowbirds aren’t born in our hospitals, attend our schools or work here all their lives.... but they vote in droves and care only about keeping their retirement property taxes low before dying, and further pollute our water cycle.

I’ve already seen some people say that Gillum lost because he campaigned with Hillary Clinton and wasn’t committed enough to Medicare for all.  If some so-called progressives can’t be bothered to vote against a racist because the other guy failed to pass the purity test, then I don’t know what to say.
