As someone on the teat of the Federal cash cow, I get what you’re saying. BUT to make that much you’re at least a second level manager. I’m not trying to be a jackass, and I make more money as a Fed than I ever thought I would, but a lot of us do this to give back rather than just trying to make bank.

No, it’s not at all. Maybe payroll taxes are ideally supposed to support Medicare/Medicaid costs, but the programs are budgeted just like everything else. They aren’t “funded” through taxes; this is why we have deficit spending.
