Yes, there's an obvious discussion of what a god is. But I believe they're using God as a "supernatural, all powerful being who created the universe". Science noways is as certain that there is no such being as it of the possibility of time travel.

Science pretty much disproves the existence of God in a literal and less literal interpretation. However faith does not require proof, and science can't stop you from believing.

The problem with magic not having any rules, logic or limitations is that anything can happen at any time. And that makes very it boring. Anything can be soled with a simple spell. So what would you build your conflict around?
