I think maybe what gets folks to thinking there’s something similar going on is that both the tea party types & the AOC faction have (albeit in markedly different ways) leveraged their greater facility with social media & online behaviour to punch above their weight in the news cycle & thus to tweak the Overton window…

unfortunately the mechanics are different...the tea party leveraged a bloc of voters who require very little information & are delighted to be lied to at every turn...
