I had seen him in other things before but I'm fully unable to see him as anything but his role in Pineapple Express.

The dearth of female protagonists, and even major female characters in non-romantic roles, is something I've never understood. I'd venture to guess that there's a perception that women are able to relate to a male hero, but men won't tolerate a heroine.
