Why? The one reason I can see for it in the article boils down to it being a derisive and snarky way to make the same criticism, and you as an employee of Gawker have absolutely zero grounds for trying to tell people not to act in that fashion.

I get why clickbait isn't acceptable to use for some sorts of criticisms, but how do you figure it's not acceptable to use in the case of a misleading headline designed to make people think that a fairly mundane article is not mundane? I take it to mean the same thing. You may not like that it carries with it a much

I read EXACTLY the following:

Sensationalized headlines used to make not-so-life-or-death stories sound like its LITERALLY LIFE OR DEATH is lame click baity garbage used to drive eyes to stories that don't deserve it.

I have been a special ed coordinator here in dubai for 4 years happy and you are right on every account. I am here for a lot of selfish reasons...no taxes, free housing, great weather, etc. But what i see around me is sickening. I hope i do my part helping kids and families who need it.

Winter Olympics: Waiting for Godot Edition

Perhaps somewhere in this collection lies a photo of my grandfather, he was wounded at Anzio Beach.

Indeed, looking at the profit growth of upper management vs. white/blue collar workers since the 60s and 70s, the disparity is absolutely mind-boggling.

Thank you. I agree.

I've seen so many people who are active at the local level, and I've been observing these folks for a couple of decades. Nothing is changing. We must vote out *everyone* in congress, all at the same time. Clean house. Start over. I wish that were part of the constitution, that no matter what, it gets 100% turned over

Unfortunately I doubt we'll ever have a true "left" in this country ever again. We've taken our already-shitty two party system and turned it into a 1.5 party system, at best.

I keep reminding my college-aged son that if all of the college kids wanted to, they could throw everyone out of office and take over in one single election. How cool would that be? A bunch of idealistic 20-somethings in office surely couldn't make any bigger of a mess of things than the current set of politicians. If

You might want to loosen the hatband there a little, sparky...

So this idea that you had to utterly defeat the Germans to teach them a lesson is not only monstrous but really an affront to humanity itself.

Had Unconditional surrender not been promulgated as a wartime aim, there could have been discussions with dissenters in Germany, whose numbers swelled as the war turned against them. Had the attempted assassination of Hitler had Allied support, the war may have ended far earlier than it did

Why would we have wanted to bring the Japanese to the negotiating table any more than we wanted to bring the Nazis to the negotiating table? There is absolutely no chance that Imperial Japan would have accepted any armistice terms that did not leave their government intact and allow them to retain conquered

Great pictures; thanks for sharing. From America's entry into to the war in late 1941 until D-Day in mid-1944 the bombing campaign was pretty much the only way we had of carrying the war to the enemy in western Europe. As others have pointed out these aircrews experienced one of the highest casualty rates in the war.

@badasscat: While I agree with you, I would ask you to stop repeating that tired idea that Obama killed the American dream of space. The shuttle program that he canceled was outdated, unfeasible, and had already been gutted during the Bush administration for the same reason. Think what you want about Obama, I don't
