One of the big reasons I hate first-person is because, after being introduced to gaming through titles like Jazz, Keen, Crash and Spyro, FPS feels like gaming with horse blinders on and I have much more limited peripheral awareness.

Mass Effect weapons don't fire shells as such, the rounds are only the size of a grain of rice and entirely caseless (in fact, they're shaved off a solid block of metal), they just pack an enormous amount of kinetic energy into them because of the Mass Effect Fields used for accelerating.
