Almost never. Obviously you have to buy XBLA/PSN digitally, but actual disk-based games I usually never. The only time I do is if they have a crazy sale. Right before Bioshock Infinite came out I got Bioshock 1 for $5 on XBL, and just last week I got Dark Souls for $10 on XBL.
I feel PC gamers aren't really in place to judge if this right or wrong. Like Total Biscuit said, the majority of PC games are digital.
