It's simple, publishers are earning much higher total revenue when they sell their games at the lower price points. They sell a lot more copies, and there is almost zero variable cost for each additional copy.

I agree, even bought either Arkham City or Arkham Asylum (can't recall which), during Steam sale, just to try it. It was kind of repetitive, fly around the city, either keep fighting the same kind of thugs or do puzzle mini-games.
