Better than all the suggestions so far for someone like you who just wants everything in one place: Tivo, whose “watch list” not only shows your recordings, but anything you want from streaming services, all in one tidy little list. Yes, not only do you NOT need to switch beteween devices, you DO NOT even need to

I know this comment is like 5 years old, but there is plaenty of evidence of knowledge and active participation despite the knowledge for each of those corporations you mentioned.

The best idea (from an owner of both iOS and Android here) would be keep the app drawer but to allow folders within it - then you could keep your minimalist home screens but still have the ability to categorize stuff for navigability. Current implementation sucks if you have a lot of apps because (1) within the app

You know, I would pay EXTRA for a smaller phone. Too many people who write or comment on this assume people who want a smaller phone want to spend less - f$#k no, I just carry enough in my already crowded pockets. What really pisses me off is how certain features (and in Apple’s case, storage capacities) are reserved

Further admission of guilt — NY Times 1998: Volkswagen to Create $12 Million Fund for Nazi-Era Laborers.

Agreed. “VW, builder of the ‘People’s Car’ that morphed postwar in the VW Beetle, employed 12,000 [Jewish WWII Concentration Camp] slaves in the most terrible of conditions at its plant in Wolfsburg.

I think the slave labor of concentration camp victims is bad enough, even if you doubt the founding. “VW, builder of the ‘People’s Car’ that morphed postwar in the VW Beetle, employed 12,000 [Jewish WWII concentration camp] slaves in the most terrible of conditions at its plant in Wolfsburg.”

I didn't know their first CEO - the furher - was honest.

it’s basically a wash if you swap out the cost of most cable company’s HD DVR. Plus, the current TiVo boxes have most of the major streaming services integrated, so you really don’t need to use something else on top of your DVR — there’s little reason to shuffle between your DVR and a Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV,

If you pay for the box and lifetime service, you are paying about $800 up front. But then you will be paying about $30 less a month from your cable carrier for as long as you have the TiVo. So 800/30 is about 26 months, or two years to make up the cost difference.

This is about as bad as that screwed up looking Sling box. Why do manufacturers insist on making “boxes” not box shaped? My TV box is not supposed to be a coffee table conversation starter. It’s supposed to sit near my TV, unnoticed, providing signals to said TV. That’s it.

Are we considering this a technical review? Sorry mate, but regurgitating the warm and fuzzy features off the box doesn’t cut it for many fans of giz.

It’s not TiVo, they have agreements with some cable providers for VOD and such. Check the article, they mention Comcast and Cox. TiVo offers the service to all the cable companies, it’s up to the cable company to accept and open their system up. I have it with Comcast and it works great. I lose one thing that people

I built my own DVR. Lots of people do it. You can even just use a plain Windows box with your choice of several DVR software packages. Silicon Dust has an external tuner box with a cable card slot, there may be others. Some cable boxes allow for USB remote control from the PC. It isn’t something I’d suggest to my mom,

As far as I know, like, all DVRs now have that capability and have at least two tuners (many have four or even six). You have to get a CableCard from your cable company to authorize the tuners, but they’re all there and can be independently tuned. You may also need a tuning adapter for SDV channels. And you can build

As someone who has had a TiVo for close to 10 years, I can say that it is still the best DVR by far. The intuitive UI, no lag, better guide and other features are so much better than the cable provided DVRs (to be fair, that’s not too hard). Not to mention downloading recorded stuff to my iPhone

The roamio (or, at least, the model I have) has six tuners in it.

Like: All of the new features.
