I hate to drag it up, but how are the electric/electronic systems faring these days? I'm genuinely curious, because Range Rovers have always been pretty stout mechanically, but their shortcomings have always been (perhaps apocryphally) related to wiring.
It's all about leverage. When roughly 2/3rds of the weight of the car is at the front, the aft section of the car basically acts like a big lever. The more weight you have up front, the closer to the front your fulcrum will be, giving you a longer lever.

I've driven a few cars with white gauge backlighting, and they're usually much lower intensity (in output) than red or green gauges. Not hard on the eyes at all.
