I submit for your approval, a 1970 Saab Sonett Sonett III, in beautiful 60’s/70’s orange, running with less than 50k miles. Earlier resto job in 1995. Reserve not met yet at $3850, but I figure this car may well sell for less than $10k, as it’s a bit of a sleeper in the vintage market.
You do realize that the concept of “long term value” is up to the interpretation of the owner right? The value I speak of is not just monetary. I own more than a few cars that are hardly appreciating in their monetary value but have value to me because they aren’t made anymore and I enjoy driving them.
I bet Tavarish never tires of literally this exact objection to everything he writes about used cars.
I still think it’s too bad it never got an update. With a re-engine, and possibly some other tweaks, it might have been able to do a Pacific route, which I think would have been a more lucrative market than NY-London.
