You are both kinda correct. While England has more then one ISP, I think the OP was referring to BTs monopoly on the actual exchanges and lines- Well that's the problem I encountered when I was living in the UK about 5 years ago.

As a graphic artist I understand that better isn't always better, brand recognition trumps style sometimes, hence the old but still used Price Is Right logo and others like google. Sure they may be horrible, but it's too late to change, you can only do slight retreatments.
