Great game to watch, grass or no grass.
Great game to watch, grass or no grass.
Hey Drew, nice article. Word of advice though. Unless you're talking about picking up a pack of smokes for some hot lady Wimbledon linesman I would forego ever using the word 'fags' in your pieces. Otherwise you'll soon end up being as dated as Albom.
Drew's from Minnesota, so his take on places like Michigan and Wisconsin aren't necessarily invalid. And this was hardly the first time he ripped the Wolverine state. It's more competitiveness than simple snobbery. You have to take these guys with a grain of whatever..Simmons, Drew, Whitlock, etc...they all have…
bingo. I hate to have used 77 as some kind of evidence of brain decay, but...
I concur, but still, he doesn't seem to be parodical in the rest of the piece.
What it has to do with it is that you seem to think that the better journalists of our times actually have had any choice in the evolution of their medium. You don't just run off when you have a family to feed. Social media has pretty much fucked things up real well for the time being.
They ran off when they were fired because they weren't profitable. Reason has nothing to do with it. And this guy 77 years old, and so I now reject my earlier statement and say that yes, he probably is just batshit-crazy now.
Pretty sure this guy's just pulling chains. Nobody who knows how to write and has a job in journalism, based on even the minimal amount of the ability to think intellectually, would ever write something like this and get away with it:
And now the Lakers organization has been relegated to just one boob, one giant boob:
I'm amazed this is actually happening? You'd think as a Clipper season ticket owner Simmons would be happy to have the last coach that guided his favorite team to a championship.
That's a shame. ESPN are like Dementors, sucking the life force out of good and talented people. In four years he'll be a shell of his former self...rooting for Kobe, calling the Knicks/Boston a rivalry, throwing out the first pitch at a Yankee game, and sitting court side at a OKC game wearing a Peyton Manning…
Too soon
Didn't catch that, thanks.
Pretty sure the over/under on his employment and affiliation with ESPN is 1 year. Grantland will figure out a way to start up their own site or join with another. Despite the fact that Simmons has a very cushy new job, and a whole new audience who never knew him before he was on TV!!, he still has some pride left. I…
The only thing really left to discuss is how he'll adapt to his new environs. Will he side with a Hispanic gang faction, or maybe convince an Afr-Ame gang that he is one of them, just look at my fiancee!?
Thanks Dom. Always appreciate a reminder every now and then that as a race, we are screwed.
Both Snyder and Soul Man are shit. But Goodell is in a league of his own. Has this guy made one popular move since '10? Is their a shadier commish in the league right now; who here doesn't think that some serious cash has travelled under the table.
Non-profits from Mexicans?
Okay.
My point was a little more spread out. Sports in LA have been in a pretty good place for the past 5 years. You can't really say the same for Cleveland. But, who are you talking about when you say one of the greatest players of our time? Lebron? The situations are not that close. For one, we haven't put out the whole…
