Production has long ended. First customer delivery for the Competizione was in late 2007 (Dec, iirc), and July 2009 for the Spider. My Spider, which is a very early one, was built on Sept 15th 2009 and delivered to me on Oct 1st 2009.

The shape of the center of the wheel is dictated by the need to use the Ferrari (F430/599/612) airbag. The concept car had a round center.
Alfa had no involvement in the design.
What miles of plastic? There’s very little plastic in the interior of the 8C, and by extension of the Disco Volante.
