Rotor wear on carbon ceramics, in fact, is not only measured by minimum thickness, but also by minimum weight. At extreme temps, the carbon basically evaporates out of the discs. Yes, they're supposed to last for a long time with street driving. We shall see how that goes. There's another problem, though: they're brittle. Improper handling of the wheels during mounting/unmounting, or even a well-placed strike from a piece of debris like a small rock can chip them.

I may also be biased because when I think Disco Volante I don't really think of the original coupé, I think of the Spider. But most of all, because I've seen the modern reinterpretation of the original Disco Volante Spider they were making at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. Which, sadly, remained unfinished.
