I have no children, when people talk about their kids I will respond with talk about my pets for one of two reasons 1) I am trying to relate and since I don't have kids dog talk is all I got 2)revenge, bore me with endless stories about your kids and I will bore you with endless stories about my pets.

Maybe not, but for pets are the closest thing to children some people will ever have. It makes sense to inflate the importance of that relationship.

Well, people can have children the usual way, or they can adopt slightly older children from the foster system. As someone who grew up in an abusive home, it sucks to see people put so much energy into insisting on genetic purity when there are so many children at need.

This is precisely why women are scared of standing up for themselves when being cat called. Not only can harassers go ballistic like this, but they also, usually, cowardly "travel" in large packs.
