How can you "hate" pets, or animals (not for consumption). Do you honestly prefer the company of humans over furry critters? Do you even live on the same planet as us? All jokes aside, to each their own - but I can't fathom disliking animals at all.

Or maybe it's not so much that people need pets because they are afraid of other people disagreeing with them. Maybe they need pets because pets love unconditionally and tend to be there even when human-friends are too busy to make time? *shrug*

I haven't encountered too many animals I thought should never be allowed to reproduce; I've met far too many humans I would say that about.

For a long time now, when people ask me why I'm so angry, I say, "If you're not angry, you're not paying attention."

I had a similar conversation with my college roommate's boyfriend. He was angry about 'women only' gyms. I couldn't make him understand that for too many reasons to count, lots of women feel vulnerable being in front of men when wearing gym attire.
