Microwave is amazing at warming up butter for baking when you're too short on time to let it sit out on the counter for an hour to get soft enough. The stovetop just melts that shit immediately.

Microwaves are great for heating liquids. Soups, stocks, coffee etc. We lived without one for several years and more than anything I missed being able to reheat my coffee without scorching it.

A grilled cheese in the toaster oven is a cheese toasty. And it's NEVER the same as a stove top grilled cheese. NEVER.
