But hey, I'm sure that woman just had those flashbacks because a man-hating therapist tricked her into believing she was raped to persecute that poor pedophile, right?

That's what I don't get about a lot of organised religion. So much of it is somebody saying "You know that omniscient, omnipotent super-being? I know what it wants. Here is a laundry list of things it told me."
Yeah, I was expecting at least something that said women don't do this, which might have been new, but I read the linked article and it seems that they weren't even studied. Ho hum.
Massive city populated by angels discovered on American west coast!
Yeah, but then there are also girls who are making pain noises but not saying anything. Or so a couple of close friends tell me.
Hahah, well he was 19, so all I know is that he's coped with it much better than I ever would have.
Thanks, I had that phrase vaguely floating around in my head but wasn't sure if I had the meaning right. Makes me wonder if my friend, a fellow liberal peacenik of the highest order, remembers spontaneously threatening to kill my brother should he ever let on that the child was an accident.
Before unsubscribing I actually had a hunt through the news archives for the last six months, as well as a couple of other websites, to see if there was any context, but couldn't see any. I've just seen the "white knight" thing trotted out so very many times as an ad-hominem to deflect valid criticism that I have…
Seems like a false dilemma no?
That's true, but I don't know if that's what the comic is actually going for, considering the white knight appears to be defending her from non-issues. If these were depicted as genuine concerns which he was defending her against, but for the wrong reasons, then I would agree with you. But they're not. As depicted,…
Man, I like being an ally and flapping my gums about abortion on the net, but people keep posting replies that make me realise what a scary reality this is for some people. That sounds like a really difficult situation and I want to genuinely wish you the best of luck with it.
Yup, but Kurtz makes no effort to differentiate between them, so it becomes a blanket statement which shuts down real support for women.
"Red Dawn (which is quite popular amongst religious fundamentalists here in Pakistan, by the way)"
That's...weirdly specific? But no, no I am not.
Do we have sex now?
I, too, am knee-deep in pussy due to arguing with male nerds on the internet.
Considering that Kurtz has made the woman in both comics both faceless and voiceless, and that we don't actually see her being silenced by him, I guess I have trouble buying that. Especially since he's created a situation where the white knight is creating issues wholesale to defend her against, rather than genuine…
Hmm, I think that's being pretty charitable, especially considering he doesn't appear to have differentiated between the real good guys and "white-knights". Maybe there's context I'm missing, but I've only ever seen that phrase used as an ad-hominem attack, never in a situation where I would consider it justified.
Does that actually work though? "Ignore them and they'll stop" sounds suspiciously like the advice kids at my school were given about bullying, advice usually given by teachers who couldn't handle standing up to the bullies.
