Yes, a general purpose computer can be built on any architecture, which is precisely why my definition is forced to include x86 in it when defining PC as a platform, which is something different from talking about Personal Computers, in general, in my opinion.

My personal definition of PC is a *general purpose* computer running on the x86/-64 architecture. I would say a PS4 or XBOne aren’t PCs because while they use the x86/-64 architecture, they are locked to a specific purpose.

I think it’s because they don’t differ enough. Once you get used to the new gimmicks the new MMO offers, you realize you’ve already donw this all before. The fact that WoW was so influential and major MMO copied them didn’t help matters.
