I think there are some Mods that contain an extraordinary amount of work and original content. These are very high quality and are worth paying for. Most mods, however, are minor and really aren’t... many even contain resources lifted form other games.

My understanding is the logic is based int eh kind of one up man ship that goes on on 2chan among fans. Eventually you run out of merchandise for you character to buy, so rather than it end in a tie, you start buying multiples and overwhelming your rival with your insane devotion.
