Jessi Combs died in a jet-powered high-speed car accident in August of 2019. In June, she was posthumously awarded the female land-speed world record by Guinness, so her name’s been in the news a bit recently.

My wife told me about this when I was about to leave for work this morning, and I got a little choked up. I’m still in a bit of shock. I just saw Keri’s “time machine” post yesterday but didn’t suspect anything. As the article says, maybe it was a coincidence.

All the wrong people dying...

Thanks for that clarification – it’s already such a scary, weird year. And the thought that an aneurysm is suddenly more likely would make it even scarier.

This this this! Most of the deaths I kind of shrug, but GRANT!? I wasn’t even a huge fan of the show (mostly watched when finding visuals to debunk myths people didn’t want to read articles for), but Grant reminded me of guys I went to high school with. I still can’t believe the news (or that he was almost 50... he

My understanding is COVID has been linked to strokes, (blood clot obstructing blood flow to the brain), not aneurysms (Artery wall weaking causing the artery to inflate like a water balloon, and potentially burst).

Fuck 2020. This fucking sucks. My heart goes out to the Mythbusters crew because you could tell they all actually liked each other.

Grant was an awesome part of Myth Busters. I’m saddened by this news.

Some of my favorite Grant moments were when he willingly faced a couple of his phobias for the purposes of the show: one episode where he was in a body of water and freaked out about fish touching him, and another where he had spiders dumped on his head.

In a perfect world Grant would have died in some sort of fucked up Westworld scenario at the hands of robots he constructed. That he died of natural causes at what should have been middle age is just sad. Best wishes to his family.

Can’t remember too many celebrity passings that make me audibly say “NO” when I hear about it, but this one definitely cleared that bar by a mile. So many wonderful memories watching the build team with my dad after school just about every day... thanks, and rest easy.

This one sucks. Like a lot. Mythbusters was a great show, but for me it really took off and came into its own when the Build Team came on. Kari, Grant and Tori just had great chemistry together. I miss the show quite a bit actually and was disappointed no other version involving the old crew ever really took off. And

2020 just needs to stop. For like five seconds.

Brain aneurysm

This is a real kick in the teeth. I loved all of the Build Team (and had a major crush on Kari), but I particularly enjoyed Grant’s enthusiasm and inventiveness. What a sad, far too young loss.

I remember when he was hypnotised and given the suggestion to play the tuba or something when one of the other team members said a key word. When the word came up, he just had a confused expression on his face and then burst out laughing, thus proving that you can suggest something to someone under hypnosis but can’t

Oh, man.  I enjoyed the hell out of the build team’s antics.  Grant in particular was great.

This fucking year I swear.  You can't catch your breath without something horrible happening.  He was one of my favorite Mythbusters along with Jamie and Kari.  I'll always fondly remember him beating a polygraph test and having this hilarious but still relatable victory breakdown.  Poor guy, rest in peace.

Pour a little out for Geoff Peterson tonight. One of the times I got to see a taping of Craig Ferguson’s show, Geoff had just been installed. At one point during a bit with Craig, Geoff turned to the audience and said, ‘There is no chicken.’
