I feel like Blame! definitely deserves to be on this list. Especially because the original manga is almost ENTIRELY just seemingly endless wastelands of post-apocalyptic technological landscapes.

There’re plenty of comments on that article that discuss the issues with those claims. There’s a reason that developers who spend hours staring at terminal windows have that as white on black or some other dark on light setting, and also why most accessibility users with visual impairments opt for the same style.

I’m unbelievably stoked about this as well. The end of the article says May 16th, and it cannot come fast enough!

The real question is did he drag Domhnall Gleeson onto set with him to do some improvised dancing between takes?

I think that it’s because of Pacific Rim that that’s the case, because that film showed that audiences in Japan are actually not very fond of her as an actress. The other, bigger part of that is that Scarlett Johansson’s relatively well-received in Japan and casting her basically provided the budget for the entire

Dear gods, that would be amazing.

Apparently he’s also, “he’s way less scarier than he’s ever been.” (although I don’t think so at all).

I figure that’s why he gave them to Leia, and she was the one who kept them around until Ben found them.

I think that a lot of this breaks down whether you consider the content media or information. That’s always how I break down whether or not I’m watching/listening to content at normal or double speed. Anything that’s informative-only like a YouTube video I’m watching to find out about updates or a podcast/audiobook

There’s so much humor in the delivery that Tim does that would be utterly impossible if these were reduced to articles, though. While a point-by-point dissection & comparison of FFVII’s translation could be interesting, it wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable as this video series has been.

Not to mention that Ben says, “You’re not doing this, the effort would kill you.” when he and Rey are first connected, which put in perspective how difficult something like that would be, even given his/Rey’s raw power in the Force. Additionally, on top of needing to die in order to maintain balance in the Force

The date really is the final detail that makes the whole thing just so him. He’s really just the best, and a tiny part of me hopes that some day that little kid grows up to be Doctor Who, like Capaldi did.

I think the fact that he’s the first person to have solo credit writing and directing a Star Wars film since George Lucas is pretty clear that they made the right call with him. He’s such a lovely individual, and it feels like he really understands what makes it BE Star Wars aside from all the fun little nostalgia

YYYEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!

Every new little little bit of speculative insight into what our cow farm raised, eye-strained, 124 consecutive hour working translator might’ve done to mess up these sentences brings me nothing but joy.

I think Brothers Bloom is important to know how Rian Johnson handles a mix of comedy and tragedy – which is an extremely important balance for Star Wars, that Looper & Brick really don’t show.

I think it might be something around “Why” as a licensed piece of music and how all that works in Japan preventing them from easily putting it on a newer platform. Either way, it’s a massive tragedy it’s never been given an updated release.

Thank you for the Horse-Laugh translations. Important and amazing stuff, and this series is amazing. I also hope to hear the no-swear story some day.

Thanks for writing this up. I never knew why Clone High got cancelled, but I absolutely loved it. My friends and I still quote the show all the time.
