Yes but a “bug” covers things that could be accomplished as an exploit using the in-game physics, and also issues as a result of a glitch that breaks the in-game physics. That doesn’t really provide any clarification for the issue here for how the speed-running community views the differences of both those things

It’s absolutely a bug from an engineer and a QA perspective. In fact, basically ANY things that allow you to skip or not take the intended path would be filed as a bug by QA and seen as a bug by an engineer. I don’t think anyone’s arguing that.

Right? That’s the part of the article that I found ridiculously baffling, especially since this is in NO WAY breaking news.

Exactly. I think that without scanslation and things, there wouldn’t be anywhere NEAR the same sort of demand because scnaslation is their biggest source for exposure in the wider market – specifically because of the speed to release window and high quality of released content.

The rural player “never return” is a non-issue. They lose motivation over time and also Raids will clear the gym even if no one attacks it ever.

Despite initially thinking that the movement looked floaty, it actually seems to be REALLY solid with the mechanics as soon as you get into the swing of it, much like SotN. Quite proud to’ve backed the game, and really liking the look of it, and hope that it does well!

Oh man. I remember GunZ and it makes me SO happy that this contributed to his Lúcio playing skills. Such a great dude, and a fantastic article.

It definitely is.

It’s like he’s gradually transforming into the Swedish Chef the longer he talks.

...was the “(skip to around the 9:30 mark if you don’t have 25 minutes to spare!)” bit immediately above the video not there earlier?

I think that 3D World Runner and Cosmic Epsilon deserve to be one the list for their “I AM NOT KONAMI” / “I AM NOT KONANI” messages hidden in the game when you try to input the code: http://www.videogameden.com/fc.htm?coe

Thank you for pointing this out. I came to the comments just to see if someone had mentioned it.

I, too saw it on a transatlantic flight on my way home from Sweden early in January. I’m excited that it’s finally coming out, so that I can see it again, but mostly so that my friend finally gets to see it, since he LOVES Makoto Shinkai’s work and has been angsting to be able to see the film for months even before I

It really is a case of nit-picky tunnel vision, and the io9 review is PAINFULLY apparent, because there’s a whole paragraph essentially saying that the design was the best thing in the film, but also using words that make it seem godawful, but literally everything described in that paragraph was directly adapted from

It’s annoying that it seems as though there’s more click-based-money to be made from being a pessimistic killjoy, but at least there’re some worthwhile things in the comments sometimes.

Right back atcha MrSchmitzky!! :D

Watching the original and its sequel Innocence will give you a lot good understanding of the shots that they recreated in the film as well as a good feel for the aesthetic that they went for. The Stand Alone Complex series and Arise series were mined for more of the plot elements and background information. They’re

It’s honestly so disappointing, because the film was great.

Seriously. It’s just fucking obnoxious. It’s almost like they plan out ways to be as excited or disappointed as they want MONTHS in advance of seeing the film and set all their expectations so heavily that they’re really just regurgitating the same bile they’ve been spewing and re-swallowing rather than actually look

The amount of stuff that’s directly pulled from both the original film and Innocence are utterly spectacular. There’re some solid stuff from SAC and Arise, but they play more into the loose structure of the plot than the aesthetic.
