I’ve never had a car that allowed me to have foglights on without having low beam headlights on. This is among 7 Japanese cars (Toyota, Subaru) and 3 German cars (MINI, VW).

*Pulls out soapbox*
My first thought, as well. Judging by the child seat in the back, I’m going to guess that this Death Cab owner is of a certain age that he is also aware of DCFC.
Not saying that they are lower standards... like unsafe or dirty. As you said, the GR Yaris meets Japanese and Euro standards that are comparable to the US as far as scrutiny. I’m saying that the overall amount of money that Toyota would have to spend to meet the specific US standards, run through the federalization…
That’s what I meant by the lower bar of entry. Mexico clearly has different regulatory requirement to the point that Toyota could say “we can import 300 of these things and make money.” I don’t think Mexico’s federalization process is nearly as difficult to meet as the US’s. If Toyota has to develop separate…
Buy enough of them for crash testing and emissions testing, and yes, they could be imported. I have a feeling that it wouldn’t be worth the cost, though. Mexico clearly has a lower bar of entry or some loophole allowing for small quantities to be brought over.
There is a truck at work with “TRUST NO ONE” in vinyl across the back glass of his pickup truck above an enormous vinyl cutout of an AR15 style gun. He also has a Yeti sticker on his back glass. “Trust no one! Except this cooler manufacturer. I trust them.” It’s all just so bizarre to me.
Is that a sly way of saying you designed the Magic School Bus?
If you really want to get into the weeds, calculate your house cost including interest. My current house was $130k more than my first house, but I put 50% down @ 3% on a 20 year loan on the current house versus $lol down @ 6% on a 30 year loan on my first house. I guarantee that my more expensive house has cost me…
Purchased my first car in 2007 (thanks, mom and dad, for covering HS and college). Total purchase: $225k. Total sold: $178k. Total cost: $47k. 8 of those 14 years I had 2 vehicles.
Turbofan all the things?
lol, I don’t even own a truck. I have a compact hatchback that I commute in and an SUV that the family uses for trips or when I need to carry something big. My wife also commutes in a hatchback.
I keep telling myself that a Cruiser isn’t going to provide that much more joy than my 4Runner does. That it would be a monumental waste of money. But I want it. I, too, am trying to bury the urge.
2 bikes aren’t fitting in that bed unless the owner doesn’t care about their bikes.
Turns out only 1 bike fits in the Santa Cruz bed because it has to be diagonal in order to fit at all.
Most trucks don’t require the bikes to go diagonally across the bed to fit. You can’t fit more than 1 bike in the back due to the super short bed.
Yea, I don’t get it. The advantage of the tire over tailgate in a pickup truck is that a couple bikes fit without purchasing more than a tailgate pad. With the bike having to sit diagonally in the bed, this carries 1 bike max. There doesn’t appear to be a 2" receiver hitch, either.
This has the same power to weight ratio as a 3000lb car with 1000hp. For $30k. Jesus.
My corolla hatchback and 4Runner also have glossy black surrounds on the instrument panel and shifter. I cleaned them over the weekend and was surprised how a generic surface cleaner on a microfiber towel did a great job getting it to look brand new. I sprayed the cleaner directly in the microfiber towel and went over…
45lbs, roughly, for my hatchback to add 220mi of range, FWIW, if you limited me to 5 gallons of gas. And the car gets lighter as I drive. Not exactly the same. Anyway, I didn’t say we needed to place limitations on range or weight on BEVs. I’m not arguing that at all. My original point was that range anxiety and…
