OK, awesome, cars are really safe now. Let’s start figuring out how to maintain this safety level and reduce weight by 10-20%.

I only watched the gif initially. Wow. 100% bad driving based on the fact she wasn’t paying attention to the truck changing lanes and then proceeded to accelerate past the truck through the hatched section.

Can’t put a price on a convertible or something; it’s a Jeep thing, I wouldn’t understand.

My friend has a Pacifica hybrid with 500 miles on it. He sent a pic the other day of the window trim having ripped off when the door snagged it. So, those hinge extensions might be necessary anyway.

The 200 series Land Cruiser has an RTI score around 650. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is closer to 300.  While RTI isn’t end all, be all for offroading, the Land Cruiser is legit.

This Jeep will probably start at ~$60k. Only the launch edition is $75k.

The leaked video mentioned an NX 450h+. My bet is the + means plug-in. Using the 308hp RX 450h as a basis, I’d expect this should be in the same ballpark. The Rav4 Prime makes 302hp.  That would be a very compelling “car that my spouse drives”.  Easy on gas, nice interior, comfortable, easy to live with... which means

Quick look on cars.com shows 3900 FWD Siennas for sale and 1300 AWD Siennas. So, ~25% are AWD.

Redline is 7300RPM. Many cars have variable redline based on engine warm-up temp. FWIW, BMW officially lists the M340i at 4.4 sec to 60.  This isn’t intended to go against the C63 AMG, M3, or RS4.

They are bringing the nomenclature in line with the competition. The previous F cars were in some weird middle ground where they had the chassis, bodywork, interior, suspension, brakes, etc to compete with the real M, RS, and AMG cars, but they just didn’t have the power:weight to truly be competitive. The IS 500

Report on a new car aimed at enthusiasts? What does this look like... a car enthusiast site? We have hard hitting articles about near dead motorcycle companies, completely predictable JD power results, and asking curmudgeons what thing they hate about new cars. There simply isn’t room to report on enthusiast cars.

My 4Runner has that so long as I have HD radio signal.  I don’t use it often, TBH.

My 4Runner has a backlit cluster, but if it is dark enough that I need headlights, the cluster is uncomfortably bright.  When I turn the headlights on, it dims the cluster and radio screen.  If I’m driving during the day with the headlights on, I have the option of flicking a switch to brighten the cluster to

My 2016 4Runner has a heating element where the wiper blades rest.

Every 3rd oil change.  That said, they’ve altered their OCIs from 7500mi to 2500mi.

Of course I google first... and those google results are often forums for a specific car. Youtube doesn’t really work when I’m wondering what size tires people have fit without rubbing on their MINI Cooper Clubman. After reading a thread with input from a dozen people, I could plot those tires and offsets in AutoCAD

I have joined forums for every vehicle I’ve owned... even the boring ones.  Good place to get questions answered or put a question out to the hive mind.

They are addressing that with... heavier tires and more aerodynamic drag. Work’s over; let’s go get a drink, boys.

I have the same rack with my 4Runner’s A/Ts on them right now. I plan on leaving my snow tires on the stock wheels and putting the A/Ts on the TRD Pro wheels this spring. The concern is that each wheel tire combo is going to be pushing 70lbs. I’d like to have them up and out of the way, but I don’t love the idea of

Go buy some decent metal shelves. I have (2) 6'W, 6'H metal shelves butted end to end with all my tools, gear, etc all in labeled totes. It gives me flexibility to rearrange things as cars change, motorcycles move in an out, etc.  I’m super happy with the setup after 6 years and the garage is still very organized.
