I’m stealing a friend’s story because it’s so good...
The plot sounds a bit similar to a book I read called The Book of the Unnamed Midwife, where a pandemic kills mostly women and children, and pregnant women in particular are vulnerable (and if they survive to give birth, the babies are often stillborn and then the woman dies). However, a large part of the book focuses…
Well that’s going to be the shortest movie ever made. And Elisabeth Moss - can you fucking stop already?! Between this and Scientology, I am disappoint.
Either it’s a society without women, or a society in which women are rare (the mother character). Either way, hard pass.
In addition, it’s easy to see how the bill could be dangerous for moderate House Democrats, many of whom come from swing districts and may be loath to touch such a progressive proposal
The procedure that would be followed would differ by provider and hospital. There’s a case in the documentary ‘After Tiller’ that exemplifies this - a french woman with a healthy 35 wk pregnancy requests an abortion and the provider refuses to do it because it’s not safe. There is a ‘point of no return’ of sorts, but…
“However, one of the things that I struggle to explain to even my more liberal friends is the procedure that would be followed if a woman with a viable fetus were to seek an abortion for non-medical reasons (“just because”).”
I would like to know more about this too, and I welcome any suggestions. Only buying clothing made in the USA, I feel, strips even a small and painfully-earned income from someone in the Third World (and ignores the fact that sweatshops are also operated under the radar in the US). I buy most of my clothes at…
If you read the NYTimes piece this is why:
“We could name and shame them, but it could be more successful to try and take a more constructive avenue here,” Mr. Kara said. “These women and girls may only earn pennies but they are crucial ones. If the brands simply pulled out and they lost their home work, it could be…
Unfortunately there is no amount of sane, rational articles from professionals that will ever, ever, change the minds of anti-choice folks. I give up. They willfully ignore all information that is actually fact-based and informative. Just like they do with so many other subjects. I say time and time again on here how…
I cant see the tweet now: “Low energy Joshua missed the greatest speech of all time. Even though I invited him, he’s actually a Democrat plant sent to make me look bad. #MAGA”
That detail has not been retracted, it was not initially reported - because Smollett didn't remember it until a later interview with police. That is a very common thing that happens to victims of crimes.
Holy crap, the girl whose scalped was ripped off was also an image that deeply disturbed and stuck with me for years and years. I still occasionally think of it and cringe 20 years later:/
This happened to one of my close friends. She carried a dead baby for weeks before she could find a doctor willing to help her. It should also be noted that this threatens the life of the mother in re excessive bleeding and the spread of dangerous bacteria and similar through her body.
Thank you for sharing!
What is infuriating is that Dems refuse to say it. For some ungodly horrible reason every time a Right to Birth lunatic makes some crazy ass claim the Democratic person gives some long winded couched argument.
Let me alleviate your fears and say that no one their right mind goes through two trimesters of pregnancy and then is like “actually I don’t want a kid.” Every single abortion that happens in the third trimester is out of medical necessity. Every single one. And no state in the US allows for late term abortions if…
Nobody, absolutely no doctor ever would authorize an abortion when a woman is full term unless there were something seriously wrong. How is that so difficult to understand? It is dangerous to deliver a baby that size especially through an induced labor of a deceased fetus, and no doctor would ever risk that.
Interesting how you immediately define it as a “chance encounter” as opposed to what is most obvious to anyone possessing the critical thinking skills of, at a minimum, those of a 5 year old. The fact is, the only people who do question the veracity of the victims account are those who don’t want it to be true. That…
