As someone who teaches at a Uni I cannot express how terrifying this idea really is, and how wrong headed it seems from a staff POV.

The biggest problem I have with this is the misconception that a good guy with a gun negates a bad guy with a gun. Generally, a good guy with a gun just creates additional chaos in an already chaotic scene.

I have a solution to end stories like this: Let’s ban straight men. Hear me out: they're bad. Let the feminist dystopia prevail imo.

As a grad student in one of the largest universities in the country, the most disturbing lecture I’ve ever attended was the information session about how to prepare for a school shooting. It was very clear that academia, and society as a whole, has decided to pass the social costs of unregulated gun ownership onto

Well, his life better be in shambles. He’s a rapist. He gets zero sympathy from me.

Poor, poor rapist/athlete. :-(

UT Austin is my alma mater and I’m proud to have a degree from this fine institution. I can’t believe what’s happening in my home state. Every day I’m thankful I moved away. Much focus right now is placed on instructors and the risks to their safety, and rightly so. But what about the jilted boy- or girlfriend who is

Testosterone-filled bros with guns. What could possibly go wrong?

I used to teach a labor economics course that covered gender and race discrimination. To my surprise I found out that those topics are controversial. White male students did not want those topics discussed. At least once, I had a non-traditional age student following me to my office after discussing those topics in

This is disgusting. College professors should not be told not to teach certain subjects or probe certain views to avoid some nutcase pulling out a gun and shooting everybody! What the fuck is wrong with these people?

That’s what sickens me. It’s bad enough when this kind of thing happens at a general community rally/speaking event. But at a school? These students are supposed to be learning how to best serve their communities and participate in the political process, and all they learned tonight is how to endure racism, which

I don’t even know how to comment on this this sucks so bad.

There are so many people/institutions who should be required to apologise to these students, I’ve lost count. The university. The Trump campaign. The people who stood by and did nothing. The Secret Service.

Does anyone feel like they don’t have friends? I never kept in touch with people from high school or before. Even then, I was never close to anyone. But as a grew up, I never made close relationships. I do have a few acquaintances but I don’t many close people I confide in. 3 maybe 4, and we don’t talk daily or even

Well, hell, if you’re going to be a ghost, a bookstore seems like the best place to haunt.

Is there anything keeping women from just naming whoever they want on the birth certificate? I assume some random dude’s name will become the paternity equivalent of telling sales people your phone number is 867 5309.

Why is it the woman’s job to ensure a man stand up for a child?

Librarian here. I just want to say how unbelievably excited we librarians are that he nominated an ACTUAL LIBRARIAN. Not only has this position been dominated by white men, but for the last 60-odd years, the Librarian of Congress has not been a librarian. Traditionally, the appointed white guy was a renowned scholar
