No, no it couldn’t. The PS3’s CPU may have used a PPC Core, but it also had numerous SPU’s that worked syngergistically on single or multiple threads. Emulating the vanilla Power PC Core isn’t all that difficult, but emulating the SPU’s is going to be a herculean task.

Well, if it’s exclusive to XB1 on consoles, maybe. Not sure why it would be though.

Didn’t say there weren’t enough exceptions not to bother, just that as a selling point this would be blunted by certain realities.

I said probably, not definitively in all cases. There are always exceptions to the rule.

Close, the 360 used PowerPC architecture, which is slightly different from X86.

Nice, though of course players whom care about mod ding have probably long since gone to PCs.

Emulating the cell processor saday isn’t going to be possible anytime soon. So no, they came really do the same thing.

This doesn’t surprise me. I took some art and graphic design classes in high school, and one lesson that stuck with is that there are certain shapes that draw the eye, namely because they take additional effort to process.

Kiiiiinda feel like this is taking the path of least resistance here.

Model and shader quality in the 3DS is clearly better than the PS2. However that low resolution offsets most of that, especially in the XL.

While I agree, jaggies annoy me greatly.

No amount of development money could make a 3DS game significantly less jaggy. It’s a product of low resolution visuals.

More then that. Outputting in 3D also doubles the pixel output of the top screen. Without 3D the resolution is 400×240, but when 3D is turned on the resolution bumps up to 800×240. The problem is that, despite that extra output, we’re still only seeing low resolution images. We’re just seeing two low resolution images

To be fair, if they’re outputting to both screens and using 3D, the effective Pixel output is much higher than 240. However that doesn’t actually do anything to address the jaggies.

People tend to be distracted by the motion of games in movement, but the jaggies are still there. It is indeed less noticeable on the older non-XL 3DS’s, but even there it can be seen fairly well. Turning the 3D effect on actually helps a little, since you’re effectively increasing the resolution when the effect is

While I enjoy the games regardless..

Okay, let me think.

Looking at that screen above, I am reminded that the 3DS really should be getting a replacement before too much longer. Granted, I really don’t think any replacement needs to be anymore powerful than your average smartphone. Rather, that horrible screen resolution needs to be fixed. T_T;;

Probably for the best.

Final Fantasy xiv is going to have a similar solution when they introduce flying mounts later this month. You basically have to attune to an area by exploring it, once that happens the flying option becomes available.
