No, the used game things is a red herring. There have been rental stores and used games since the NES and if they were really as big a threat to gaming as the companies claim, we would never have gotten this far.

The answer appears to be "Depends on the game manufacturer".

All glory to the Hypnotoad!

You just summed it up perfectly. I'm honestly impressed.

They got T1 in Antarctica? I might be game.

Yeah, because internet providers are solid as rocks, right?

You can pretty much trace this whole thing back to the big brouhaha about piracy about 10 years ago.

Zing! =)

I know someone who's getting a lava lamp for Christmas.

You don't show you care for someone through ridicule. And as Francis isn't your friend, why would he give a flying fuck about how concerned you are?

Hilarious about how they constantly brag about your game saves being on the cloud when that takes up virtually no space on your HD.

Exactly. And it furthers the trend of eliminating consumer ownership. When I put money down on something, I expect to be able to own it. With things like this, all I have is a very expensive rental.

(sigh) I was such a big console gamer, too. I don't like PC gaming, but if this is the crap I have to expect from console makers, it may be time to make the switch.

Obesity gives you a greater risk of disease. It doesn't give you one.

You've got it.

So your console really does need to be connected to the net or you're not going to be able to use a great deal of the content.

Like I said, I've been through this.

It's more likely to get people to commit suicide than it is to get them to lose weight.

That's such a simplistic statement. I have a hard time believing anyone's motivation is actual concern for the person being mentioned.

As someone who is, himself, obese, I'm a little tired of all the "concern" people have over it.
