At best it's controversial, but I believe "American Indian" is the term preferred by *most* in the U.S. Regardless, I don't think you should be policing the language of a tribal member.

We don't really say anything to her. She's been very generous with the family - my parents are totally underwater/near bankruptcy, and she'll help them out with car repairs and medical expenses or when their computer died (they live in a rural community without much of a support system). And I'm sure it doesn't help

I see this with my older sister. We grew up poor, a lot of siblings, a lot of struggles. But as the oldest, she was able to leverage that into opportunities at universities (student aide for low income families - by the time it got to the younger ones, we didn't qualify w/ less children at home).

I don't have kids. I don't even particularly like kids.

They roll in mud because they don't have sweat glands and have to use it to cool down and protect themselves from the sun.

I don't know. I get jealous and I even get kind of turned on by the idea of sexually belonging to someone, I guess? Like, I want monogamy at a very basic level. I don't think that's because society has *forced* me to. It's possible to be naturally monogamous.

Based on everyone's comments, it could be totally normal and just kids exploring. But it could also be abuse.

You're totally right. I honestly fail to see how this is debatable.

The New York Times has a blog post about it that's pretty damning, including further confirmation from the Marine Corps Band:

Yeah — I don't know if there are some ND oil boom towns that are closer to MN or not (I'm assuming there's more towns than the one profiled in the article?) But the story of the woman almost being forced into the car in broad daylight reminded me of the Appleton woman. I keep thinking about it though, and I've

I'm guessing lots of pillow fights in our bras and panties.

In December, there was a news story out of Appleton, MN. A witness saw a young woman walking down the highway when an SUV pulled over and 2 or 3 men jumped out and forced her - as she resisted and screamed - into the vehicle and sped away. But the last update I saw on it was just that since no one had been reported

I recognized "Tommy Gavin" right away and haven't seen that show forever. The whole super soakers/stolen pickup thing has me guessing I've missed some major plot developments in the last couple seasons.

No - I totally get that. You can go to a place where people hookup without any intention of doing so yourself. That's totally legitimate and fine and people are jerks for making you feel otherwise.

Hormones control a lot of that. I made it through high school without ever having a huge zit problem, then at 28 all the sudden I had to figure all this shit out. Adult-onset acne is a Real Thing.

Of course you're allowed. I think that's an entirely different issue — women being allowed to be alone in public without being harassed.

I have this discussion ALL THE TIME. One of my best friends is a lesbian; I'm straight.

I think other people have outlined how flawed and obtuse this comment is. Not to mention trying to set up some conflict of gay vs. parents is.... odd.
