And yet he has a fleet of armored limos, helicopters and 2 747's to haul him around. What exactly qualifies him to decide what’s best for me?

Our local Meijers has about a dozen Tesla super charging stations in the parking lot. I drive past there to and from work every day, and in the past week I have seen 1, just 1 car using them. What’s the point of spending tax dollars to support a company making things that no one is using?
I’m with you on that. Safe nuclear produced electricity removed the need for expensive solar and wind and for fossil fuel generated electricity. It would be extremely expensive on the front end to develop the tech and get it into service, but in the long run it would still be cheaper than solar or wind.
Not sure why people still keep referring to Volvo as a Swedish car company. Volvo is a Chinese owned company now.
Sorry, I’m not buying a Chinese car. Ever.
Agreed. I’m looking to buy van for a small company I have. The Ford Connect so far seems like the way to go, with Nissan a close second. I can’t bring myself to consider a dinosaur like the Express when there are so many nicer riding, more efficient and safer options available.
Yeah because why shouldn’t it take a company 8 years to make a profit. The government should steal more of our money and make as many of these wonderful gambles as possible right?

You could always put carpet floor mats down to protect the laminate...
You’ve never seen pit crews pour Dr. Pepper, or any cola, in the pit stall before a race? They do it to make it tacky so the cars can stop a little quicker and leave a little quicker. Old timers were creative.
Same reason they buy iPhones. If you didn’t know the same ‘purchase agreements’ exist in the tech industry on almost everything you buy. Open your phone or tablet and the warranty is voided because they claim you are only licensing the software that runs it.
The biggest issue I see is the logistics to move them to the battle field. Steam tractors required constant servicing. And, once a steam tractor was delivered, it pretty much lived it’s life out there. To drive cross country in something that big without roads and support for fuel and water and spare parts would have…
Steam ship can submerge the boilers under the water line, no option in a land vehicle.
So a Fiat?
From the inside view that I have in the industry I’m pretty sure VW weighed the penalty of getting caught versus the cost of being complaint and had no problem making the decision they made. Besides, customers see fuel economy numbers and horsepower, they don’t see NOX numbers. If you want to sell cars you give the…
That’s not the reason exactly. Seat belt usage in the US is at an all-time high, but that isn’t the reason for airbag only tests. When airbags first came on the scene, Europe viewed them as supplemental restraints, to be used in conjunction with seat belts. In the US, we viewed airbags as a replacement for seat belts,…
Are penguins a sustainable food source?
Because that isn’t deterrent from doing it again. Give VW a marketing tool so they can pretend they’re some heroes? Not likely. The idea it to make it clear to ALL manufacturers that the penalty for violating the rules will be more than just a fine and a few hours of public service.
The fine alone is not an incentive. The major automakers make so much money they have to hire people to count it. The deterrent is public embarrassment and loss of confidence in the brand by the customer base. $10 Billion they can afford to loose, 10% loss of market share is crippling.
Why don’t you stick to auto news and leave your obvious political bias bullshit over on Jezebel. Don’t make yourself part of the problem.
