Coming from a scooter perspective, I would never buy a Chinese made car. I see so many broken Chinese scooters, new ones that last a year or 2 and up on CL for parts or repair. People are far better off buying a 30 yr Honda then a new generic Chinese bike. For fuck sakes don’t we already buy enough stuff from there.

Neutral: Yes and No.

Because it would essentially be a ford flex which is already a thing.

Electric cars have less wiring and sensors then a gas car so it should be more reliable regardless

I love my Volt because it’s range is as limitless as you can find gas stations. Most days I cruise around my routine stops on electric only, but when I had to go 1400 miles in 24 hours, no problem - just stop at the gas station and keep right on going.

I recently bought another washing machine because my Samsung washer kept breaking. I’ll end up eating almost $800 on that piece of shit. Good luck to you.

I don’t know, being able to charge at home at night (for many people, not all, many apartment renters can’t do it) goes a long way to making the 5 minute recharge more of a nice thing to have rather than a must have.

I mean, mine’s at 185k and running fine but, y’know, sure.

Completely disagree. Keep them making stuff with big screens and as few moving parts as possible. Ever see the warranty claim levels on Samsung appliances? My Samsung dishwasher has been replaced twice and has another service appointment scheduled for next week.

Except that hydrogen isn’t a free resource - you have to split it from water (at a net energy loss) or separate it out from methane (which is a decent fuel already). On top of that, it’s difficult to transport, and the infrastructure for fueling stations is orders of magnitude more complex than charging stations.

I think many of us misinterpret BMW and Toyota’s fascination with fuel cells. The following is my guess...could be wrong, but it’s my suspicion based on my own experience in the U.S.

40mpg isn't realistic. Maybe 20, if the vehicle used electric power to get it up to about 50 the diesel for highway cruising. MAYBE 20.

And, unlike fuel cells, batteries will actually still be relevant technology in 5 years.

Someone make a damn hybrid electric/gas RV already. Solar panels all on the roof. A bank of batteries under the floor. An RV that gets 40mpg and could go off grid for a week. Take my fucking money.

You guys, I think Donald Trump may be full of shit.

That’s not ironic. It doesn’t even make sense.

No.

I think there was a general feeling around the office that once the Panamera and Cayenne came out, the JD Power numbers would drop like a stone because they were no longer third cars owned by fastidious dealer servicing rich guys.

Owners of PORSCHES are too proud to complain online?
