Much of the Sunfire coupe design was meant to evoke images of the Firebird. I’m also a fan. It was a pretty good buy up until the early 2000's. Of course, it’s GM, so they kept making them for 3 or 4 years longer than they should have so by the end of it’s decade long run it was woefully inferior to just about

I have no idea. I said NP but if you go on AutoTrader and there’s a dozen of them for half the price then I guess it’s CP.

This whole thing just reminds me of how horribly dicked up GM’s naming was back in the 90's. I mean... there was a Lumina, whch even had some nice trim levels like the one in this thread. But it was also a minivan. And then for no conceivable reason other than the cash in on some misplaced nostalgia, it got renamed as

I had to go look it up myself as I just assumed the weight was a mistake.

$1500 is a fortune compared to what people in other places pay, but I agree that it’s not prohibitively expensive when you’re going to use the bike on a regular basis.

And I’m betting there’s no option to just get insurance for a month or two.

Where are you located?

This was my general impression, and if I’m not mistaken, they’ll only sell policies for a full year so you can’t just insure it for a month or two for some fun. Do you know if that’s true?

My understanding is that insurance companies don’t allow this for bikes. I do this for my sports car.

Your name implies you’re from California. Are you actually Canadian?

Maybe someone from Ontario, Canada can chime in on this but am I wrong to think that while this looks like a ton of fun, the insurance cost would probably make it prohibitively expensive to justify as a thing I might only take out a handful of times throughout the summer?

I love the later 1st gen one’s with the painted fenders. The 2nd gen seemed to completely ditch what made it great. It seemed like a big step toward utter boredom.

I don’t think AEV makes fake beadlocks. They make some wheels with optional beadlocks and a decorative/protective trim ring you can use in place of them but I don’t think they make any fakes.

I had smoke pouring out of the brakes on my Boxster GTS at WGI. My instructor suggested an upgrade. :)

I’m gonna disagree on the idea that a 981 is what a BRZ/Miata would be with more power.

So far the only time I’ve noticed my rear steering specifically doing something is when it insisted in driving me into a curb beside a parking space I was trying to back into.

I’m still waiting for my donations to total enough to buy a gummy bear. :)

Absolutely it would!!! Or look for a spec Boxster race car.

They ARE doing that. The names have been confusing since the very beginning. Basically, they backed themselves into a wall with the Boxster (Boxer engined Roadster) name and then tried for years to pretend the Cayman was a different car even though it obviously wasn’t. They had an artificial power difference and it’s

If it’s anything like the 981 was, the price difference is in favour of the GTS. The GTS is a bargain once you add up all the options.
