I can't believe I had to scroll down this far to find someone who can spell.

It would be so easy to cross the line into the absurd...but Bradbury stops at the sublime.

"It was a pleasure to burn."

Fair enough. I'll concede the point. But I'm from Miami, so that image would not leap into my head. But whether he wears shorts or trunks, Supes should wear SOMETHING additional over his nether regions, and they should be red.

I think his costume HAS been tweaked many times in the past as each artist puts his or her spin on it. But in this case, it was twerked, and without his consent. I guess we'll have to disagree about the solid blue suit, but can we agree that if you are wearing a full body suit it's pretty stupid to have a belt of

Swim trunks are also worn without additional garments. Additionally, the definition of shorts is merely "short pants that reach to the thigh or knee." Nothing about whether they're worn over anything else—such as, say, tights. So, I think I'm okay with referring to Superman's red shorts, since trunks is defined

I'm pretty sure boxers wear trunks, and they aren't wearing anything else visible.

Aesthetically, you need the red shorts. It balances the whole uniform. Yes, to a degree I'm biased by three quarters of a century of tradition. But even if you set that aside, removing the shorts alters the visual in a negative way. You can redesign a uniform and make it better, but you can't do so in a way that

And Alex Ross's illustration really helps you to see that. (And—it has red shorts. No red shorts, no Superman. Period).

So, you have to watch the video more than once to get it? I'm not really seeing that as a problem. This is a delightful piece of well-choreographed single-shot magic. To ask for it to be better than it is is like saying Casablanca sucks because Ilsa has that stupid line "Is that cannon fire, or my heart beating?"

Both of my sons grew up with MSB, and they really retained a lot of the knowledge. I think Ms. Frizzle's oft-quoted advice—"Take chances! Make mistakes! Get messy!"—is absolutely wonderful advice for life. And one of the best features of the show was the tag scene in which "The Producer" clarified which things

Yep. This was a big one for me, too. I read a lot of Heinlein—especially the short stories. Good call.

It was intended as an homage or in-joke, as I understand it, since Cockrum had just finished his run on LSH when he started up X-Men.

I'm a high school English teacher. Though I don't teach diagramming in my class, some teachers still do—and it's not worthless. It's especially useful for visual learners or for ESOL students who have very solid understanding of the grammar of their own languages but struggle with English syntax. Additionally, by

Young Adult.

Oops. Sorry. Didn't mean to double-post. I got Kinja-ed.
