I remember similar discussions of design and customer preference after 9/11, when people were looking for a sense of safety and security in their lives. More people went to SUVs and larger trucks, and even cars picked up the gunslit window design (most famously the Dodge Magnum/Chrysler 300) that suggested safety from

Yum indeed. The scale of it is really appealing too. Not so big since it doesn’t have to accommodate the width of a V8 I guess.

This is exactly the right approach, imo. Form follows function, and the reason we learned to love the sounds of gasoline engines is because it was a function of how they operate, and the best/biggest/highest revving ones sounded different from the crappy ones. So we associate “good” engine sounds with those.

I’m guessing the fuel tank is very small for this.

Other colors are $99!

I wonder if there’s a difference between wearing tires out naturally on the road (which includes hundreds of heat cycles) and shaving them down. I bet the heat cycled ones don’t grip as well as shaved.

Anytime I see the phrase “up to”, I read it as “no more than”. It means the same thing.

I live 5 minutes from this place. It’s an old shopping mall attached to a Holiday Inn that was bought and repurposed as this auto consignment shop. One of the best, most eclectic car shows you’ll ever see and worth a trip if you’re not too far. Something for everyone. Everything from 38 Fords to the odd Ferrari or

Thusly?

Second Wow, I never realized that. Your photo definitely does look better. I assume they did that to make trunk more accessible? I can’t imagine why else they would have.

I know that power steering issue. What’s coming up is total failure, and a $2000 repair if it’s done at a Ford dealer. My 2014 ST did the exact same thing (before warranty expired). I brought it to the dealer and they couldn’t replicate the problem. Then it totally failed after warranty expired and they wouldn’t fix

These cars are about as analog as it gets. Not even ABS, I believe. I think that’s what car enthusiasts will look for in our new digital/electric transportation future, and this one seems like a good deal (gut, without checking alternates). Green wouldn’t be my top choice but it doesn’t actually look bad. I’ll say

Good point, especially on the height of the center of gravity.

Less weight in back not only won’t negatively affect balance in a 911, it’ll probably improve it!

How were you driving that thing?

Wow, so it’s a common thing!

Counterpoint: The 9-7X isn’t the worst Saab, it’s the best Trailblazer.

There used to be this perception that GMCs were somehow a little “tougher” than their Chevy counterparts. A friend of mine had a GMC Jimmy years ago, and another common friend was telling him how the GMCs’ steel was a little thicker than that on the Chevy Blazer twin. Tough to talk someone out of their perceptions

This is a legitimate take. It’s not the worst Saab, it’s the best Trailblazer!

The John Player Special livery just works.
